Crumbled Melodies

Remnants of beauty linger here,
Though the melodies have long since gone;
All that remain are glimpses of years
And the keys that they traveled along.
Cracks and shadows mar the face
Of the vision once so bright,
But black and white, which now embrace,
Impose on each other their fright.
Once they sang a marvelous tune
Wherein their harmonies danced,
But time’s assault arrived too soon
And music lost her chance.
Edges blur and notes interfere
On these keys where joy once belonged;
But despite the sadness that lingers here,
There plays a beautiful song.
